The Leigh Institute (ConnectED Apprenticeships)


Educating young people to achieve the highest possible standards. As an accredited ITT provider, ConnectED Apprenticeships and Kent & Medway Training (KMT), a division of Leigh Academies Trust, are delivering the Level 6 Teacher Apprenticeship.


OCCUPATIONAL PROFILE:

The occupation covered by this apprenticeship standard is that of a teacher of pupils from 3 – 19 years. Teachers can be employed in a variety of settings across England. Teachers make the education of their pupils their first concern and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. Teachers demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct; have strong subject knowledge, keep their knowledge and skills as teachers up-to-date and are self-critical; forge positive professional relationships and work with parents/guardians in the best interests of their pupils.


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

  • have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade 4 in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics;

  • For those who intend to train to teach pupils aged 3 to 11, have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade 4 in the GCSE examination in a science subject;

  • a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)


QUALIFICATIONS:

Achievement of QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – awarded by the Department for Education – will be a mandatory requirement for apprentices’ successful completion of the course.

    At ConnectED Apprenticeships (The Leigh Institute), our programmes compliment your business needs which ensures that the apprentice will learn skills that are applicable to their role at your company.


    Training type e.g block, release days, or at work address. Average 20% across the year with a combinations of work-place assessment and day release.


    If you’re employed and looking to improve your career prospects, ConnectED Apprenticeships (The Leigh Institute) is a great opportunity to learn new skills and to gain recognised qualifications. You will still receive the same salary and holiday allowance so you don’t need to worry about changes to your contract of work.
