You’ll gain an overview of various business functions and most importantly, understand how they engage and depend on each other to be successful.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

The Business Administration apprenticeship programme assists you in supporting and engaging with different parts of the organisation and interacting with internal or external customers. You’ll gain an overview of various business functions and most importantly, understand how they engage and depend on each other to be successful.

Business Administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.

The responsibilities of the role are to support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with internal or external customers. With a focus on adding value, the role of business administrator contributes to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. The flexibility and responsiveness required allows you to develop a wide range of skills.

The business administrator is expected to deliver their responsibilities efficiently and with integrity – showing a positive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills. The business administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others.

DURATION AND STRUCTURE OF APPRENTICESHIP

Typically, 18 months (which includes the three months for the End Point Assessment).

This will include 6 hours per-week of blended learning. It will be a blend of online learning and off-site learning which will take place during term time at sites across the Leigh Academies Trust.

LOCATION

Both at your workplace and at a number of Leigh Academies Trust schools situated in South East London and Kent.

END POINT ASSESSMENT

  • The End Point Assessment consists of an online multiple-choice exam and a professional discussion based around a portfolio that you create during the course.

  • You will also deliver a presentation on a project that you have done whilst on the programme. This is a 10-15-minute PowerPoint presentation with a Q&A.

During the course you will be guided, supported and fully prepped ahead of your End Point Assessment.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must have lived in the UK for the past 3 years

  • Candidates must have achieved a grade 4/C at English and Maths GCSE or the Level 2 Functional Skills Equivalent. (Candidates who are just off these grades may have the option to study functional skills with us so we encourage applicants to apply and we can discuss this to see what can be done)

  • Ideally candidates would be willing to commute either by public transport or car as we cannot guarantee that the vacancies will be within walking distance. We do not expect apprentices to have a commute longer than 45/60 minutes if it can be helped.
