via the Level 5 Learning and Development Consultant Apprenticeship
The Middle Leaders Certificate in Education is a nationally recognised development programme designed for aspiring and current middle leaders who want to deepen their impact, sharpen their leadership skills, and drive subject-specific excellence within their schools.
Combining expert-led training with practical, school-based application, the programme equips participants with the knowledge, confidence, and tools needed to lead teams and improve outcomes.

The programme is delivered through a blend of taught sessions, applied projects, coaching, and workplace learning. Key areas of focus include:

Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the programme, you must:
Be a leader within your organisation either recently appointed or just stepping into the role
Have lived in the UK/EEA for the past 3 years and work mainly in England
Be employed in a school and have the support of your Principal
Hold an employment contract covering the full programme (17 months)

Since 2019, Harris Federation has been an employer provider of apprenticeships, and more recently our Harris Institute of Teaching & Learning has attained Main Provider Status too. This enables us to deliver our education-based programmes to apprentices and employers across the country.
In January 2024, we were excited to receive a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted for our first apprenticeship inspection. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams, and of course, our fantastic learners on both programmes.
